Kiwibob's planes

I now had these two plus the acrowot, but I was after "something else", the wot4 was a bit sluggish with the 52 FS, I wanted something a bit more racy!

Tom and I went to the 2003 Wings and wheels at North Weald. I took a wallet full of cash, but in spite of the many planes for sale, nothing took my eye

Then, Mustafa had grown tired of his Home Run and asked if I would like to buy it. Fitted with an Irvine 53, it was just what I wanted. For some reason, he insisted he was just selling the engine, the plane and two servos were "free".  He had some "glitching" with this, and I found the same, probably due to the long leads to the servos. I eventually sorted it out by moving the aerial to the rudder, twisting all the servo leads, and putting ferrite cores on all the leads. It's a nice plane to fly, and usually doesn't get blown about too much in the blustery conditions we often get.

About this time I responded to an advert from a bloke  who was "selling up";  I bought the lot, including a FF8 TX and about 8 complete planes plus a few extra engines and things. The Wot4 classic, above was one, hardly flown, immaculate condition, with a Thunder tiger Pro .46, as new. Although a 25 year old design, it is a delight to fly!! I also bought a CMP 3D-GILES 202 (40) with an OS 50 from  Pete Madden a little later, also shown above. What a great plane to fly, superbly set up by Pete,  ..unfortunately, I managed to break the fuse in half, just behind the wing after a heavy landing in a strong wind. I have had a couple of attempts to join up the two halves, but haven't got it quite right yet!!
